The Collect series sets out to to explore our relationship with objects and the possibilities created by designing furniture that encourages contemplation, interaction and wonder.

The idea was to create a finely crafted, simple design that could be produced in both small and larger editions, for people who like to collect things.

Evoking the spirit of the curiosity cabinets of the 17th and 18th century, also known as “Wunderkammer” or cabinets of wonder, Collect 01 is both a side table and mini museum case where artefacts, found objects and treasures can be placed, viewed and changed with ease.

Collect 01 can also be a bedside table, with storage space for books or jewellery and the base can be used as an occasional stool.

Inspiration came from visits to the Horniman museum in Forest Hill, South East London. The Museum, which itself is a large collection of the peculiar and the educational, contains artefacts ranging from African masks and stuffed animals to ancient musical instruments.
